The organization Animal Defense Heroes A.C. was created in 2014, to promote an animalist agenda in Mexico. Animal Heroes represents itself as "a Mexican and international non-profit organization whose mission is to defend animals, educating, and creating laws, and public and private policies for that purpose."
“The mistreatment and neglect of animals is our responsibility; it is a serious social problem. Hence the undeniable need to act from its roots, working through education, legislation and realistic and viable public policies in conjunction with the authorities of all levels of government. No one loves them like you do, no one works for them like we do.”
ANIMAL HEROES, 2021.
Among its greatest achievements are the prohibition of the use of animals in circuses throughout the country, the elimination of aggressive control methods in anti-rabies centers, and achieving the criminalization of animal abuse in some states.
From their positions as members of civil society, they promoted the creation of an "Animalist Caucus", in which legislators can participate across party lines.
So far, they continue working on the creation of the "General Law of Animal Welfare", with the participation of advisors in biology, ethology, veterinary and constitutional law, in addition to the open collaboration of people who love animals.
